You probably won't hear much people talking about Push Ups. So let me just say this is the point where you start spreading the word. In the arena of hardcore punk, this under-the-radar bunch has one of the most demanding, loud and in-your-face sounds today. Their 2013 EP, This Isn't Discourse was a perfect glimpse into the future and it's safe to say, all bets made were bets safely placed. Grow Up or Try Dying is a hard-hitter and that's saying the least.

Tracks like "College Ruined My Life" help continue what they started a year or so ago. Frantic riffs and basement noise meant to mosh and break shit to. They blend in screamo, skramz and some metal influences as well to great effect and again, this is what demands your attention. Another fine gem from Philly. However, they've grown much more rough-edged and the music's harder. Zac Beaver's vocals feel more of a driving force this time around and in his screams, you get the sense of urgency needed. You feel his rage. Even on the slow-to-loud "Le Grande K", you really get to appreciate the musicianship of the record even more. The pace is varied but that doesn't deny Jarret Nathan's drums and Josh Beaver's guitars the chance to roam. And explode.

A lot of the record seems fit for fans of The Saddest Landscape, My Iron Lung and Caravels. As Cristian Adams' bass-driven "Hell Is Other People" starts rounding out proceedings, it sinks in how much this band belongs on stage with another band that seems to be ruling the hardcore punk-scene right now. That's Single Mothers. There's a similar dynamic. Musically and attitude-wise. Don't sleep on this. Vent with it. You won't regret it.
