Swiss garage punkbands- who doesn’t love ‘em? Urban Junior is a one man garage electro punkband (or something like that). He started off with guerilla-shows in public restrooms and bars and later on got to be the opening act for Iggy and the Stooges. It’s the love child of Modey Lemon and Kraftwerk.

Most of the songs have a pretty distorted bassline with English or German lyrics and are prettified with some guitar elements. The songs are pretty repetitive, but in a good way, especially “Stehaufmännchen” or the opening track “Manifest”, although other songs like “R.I.T.A.L.I.N.”, pushed it too far and thus are slightly annoying.
There is a range from electro to punk on this record. Some are mainly electro like “Reflection” and others are mainly punk(-ish) like “Backdoor Boogie”, which in my opinion is the best song of this record: it’s one of the rockiest songs and has some kind of Beastie Boys vibe going on.

Altough I’m generally not a fan of electronic stuff, this caught my attention because of its strong garage punk influence – well that and because it’s a freakin’ one man band: That’s ten points for style right there!
