Many know Thomas B as the mastermind behind The Sensitive Nachos, James On Fire, and The Natails. But in December of 2015, he decided to take a shot at going solo, and made a perfect demo. Demos 2015 is a pop punk collection of two power house gems. Thomas plays guitar and sings, and relies on GarageBand drums to provide a beat for him. There's no bass, which makes the production sound hollow and thin. It has its charm, and works well with the songs. "Saying Goodbye" is a great opener with a classic chorus. The lyrics are hilarious, and are similar to bands like Bowling for Soup and Patent Pending. There's a brief moment of Ska before the chorus hits, and it sounds like something he should consider doing more often. "Anne" ends things off, and is a depressing, but hopeful tune about wanting a girl. The guitar is the best that Thomas has ever laid down. Like "Saying Goodbye," it's one of the best songs he's ever written, but I prefer "Anne" a bit more. Demos 2015 is the perfect soundtrack to any kid in High School who feels out of place. It might not resonate with those who prefer the more mature sides of pop punk, but there's something about his delivery that makes it so likeable. A mere two songs isn't anywhere near enough to satisfy the average listener, but it's just a demo, and the two songs are great. Demos 2015 is classic release, and one that should be remembered in the world of DIY pop punk.
