Gleemer are one of the most technically intriguing bands I've heard in quite some time. It's a subtle take on post-rock matched in with emo/shoegaze/90's rock revivalists like Citizen. I haven't listened to them a lot in the past but their new release Anymore really had me digging back into the archives, to see how they've evolved. And it's with a sound and style similar to bands that are doing the new emo-grunge thing like Movements and Casey.

The band's dynamic is focused on lush, shimmery guitars and reverb-drenched walls of sound, kinda like NJ's Gates. Songs like "Come Down", "Pressure" and "Light Out" are prime examples of them doing this well, but still lacking an intensity. They should be going from soft to REALLY loud, and ripping when they do. Instead they wander around mid-tempo swells, leaving you feeling like they're just missing that final part of the puzzle. Nonetheless, they really appeal to your visceral nature, leaving the closing songs like "Gush" and the acoustic "Not Around" to emphasize that they're a band to keep an eye on in the future. Think of Superheaven as well, but a bit more controlled and dynamic. Good stuff here, but you can tell there's room to go even bigger.
