Sleep With You (2003)

TMG

Holy shittastic Batman! This band blows! Basically it's a bunch of older guys (look around 35-50) trying to sound like Weezer, writing songs about trying to have sex with women, superhero women, and all around shittiness. They're simply not good. Their lyrics suck. "I don't wanna go out with you, because I don't think it would last too long, I don't want to spend hours talking to you, because I've already heard your song. I don't want to get to know you, but girl I'd really like to show you that I don't really care whatever we do, as long as I get to sleep with you." Then it follows with a chorus of "What can I do to sleep with you? What can I do to sleep with you?" I'm sorry. In no way, shape, or form is this CD any good.

If that wasn't enough, let's take a look at the band name, Transcendence, like they're a spiritual band using music to transcend this world. With song lyrics like the ones from "Sleep With You," I can definitely see this (note: sarcasm applied heavily). Also, they're on TMG Records, which in the album credits is defined as Transcendent Media Group. Unless this is a coincidence, I'm quite certain they put out their own CD because no label would.

The production on this record is terrible also. It's mixed horrible where sometimes one guitar is louder than the others, the bass is inaudible (as if it would really matter, it doesn't do anything) and the drums are too quiet and sound like a PlaySkool set. There are times where it literally sounds like it was recorded by an eighteen year old kid on a 4 track in his basement (no offense intended towards 18 year old recording prodigies). If that wasn't bad enough, the drums are off beat on most songs. If you can't even record an album where time is on, don't record it at all.

This CD embodies everything that is wrong with the music industry. It's recorded terribly, it's terrible music, it features terrible messages behind it's songs, and it's not organized as art. This CD is created to sell instead of entertain, and this is proven by using the naked image of the woman in the liner notes multiple times. I'm going to say this and truly mean it: Worst band ever.
