Skare Tactic

Remember When (2003)

Thorp

Ok folks, let's get one thing straight, right from the start. For the love of all that is holy, don't misspell your band name. It isn't cool, it isn't cutting edge, and it's stupid. Save that for Linkin Park. Periodically in hardcore, bands pop up with this annoying trait, and I can't remember liking any of them. Skare Tactic play heavy hardcore with strong most metal influence and lyrics about getting stabbed in the back, etc. Yeah, you know where this is going.

Originality doesn't make a band, but a lack of originality can sometimes break a band. Luckily, even though these guys plagiarize a good bit of their sound from other bands, they mix it up just enough to avoid being cast aside completely. Still, being just ok is hardly any way to make a name for yourself. Most of songs on here are about friendships and people who changed for the worse. However, they're all pretty much written about the same type of thing, and the lyrics aren't at all varied. I know that these things might be pressing issues to the band members, but changing things up a little never killed anyone. That's basically what it boils down to, Skare Tactic isn't bad, but they don't bring anything extremely interesting to the table. Because of this, this album doesn't have a whole lot of replay value.

If bands like Hatebreed, Terror, or their ilk are your thing, you would do well to check this band out, but if you're looking for anything that is overly thought provoking, I'd keep looking. Skare Tactic hasn't been around for very long, so it's entirely possible that they will eventually find their own sound. I don't mean for this sound as a complete write off of this band, because this album isn't terrible, it's just mediocre.
