Nagoya (2003)

No Face

Sounds like a second-rate version of Enema of the State-eque Blink-182.

For those still with us, Canada's Nagoya is pop-punk. Very pop-punk.

For those still with us...the similarities are pretty out in the open. Although the band takes a much more serious (the band's name is taken from a Japanese city bombed in World War II, after all), more midtempo focus with some laced acoustics here and there, they still sing about relationships and the like, and "Closer Now" is a bit harder and darker than EotS could ever wish to be. But that's not enough to defend against the fact that "I Believe in You" is practically a B-side to the aforementioned album with its undeniable "Blink-182 guitar sound," the main backup vocals bear a striking resemblance to Tom DeLonge a lot of times, and the opening of "Eastwest" certifies any other doubts. However, the production is crisp and clear to this trio's apparent debut EP at least, and they've got the harmonizing thing down.

It might sound like a lazy comparison, but it's true. Proof is below.
