Juice Tyme!

Juice Tyme! [7 inch] (2009)

Forcefield / Headcount

There's nothing inherently special about Juice Tyme!'s brand of super-fast, thrashy, Infest-ish hardcore with that powerviolence beat, but it's done well enough to warrant notice.

Also, despite their name, this self-titled, eight-song 7" seems to be a particularly serious musical and lyrical affair. Though no lyric sheet is present, it sounds like some typical anti-militarism on "Bloody Hands" (or "Human Being," maybe), while standout "I'm So Hardcore" lampoons tough-guy culture in an ironically pounding, stomping nature. The recording is solid, the vocals are actually decipherable a good portion of the time and some ambient noise flanking the sides give things a little more mood and texture.

You've heard this phrasing ("ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra / ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra") and abrupt pissed-off style before, but Juice Tyme!'s take is a pretty good, enjoyable one.
