Young Generals' demo 7" is only a mere two songs, but they're incredibly promising cuts.

The A side is "Reconnecting," which pairs the raw, emotional dynamicisms of Small Brown Bike's Our Own Wars with younger-sounding, grainy vocals that remind me of Smoke or Fire's Joe McMahon. That sound might be becoming all the rage these days, but Young Generals sound less polished and unhinged than, say, the nonetheless stellar PA scene tends to produce. B side "Thirty One Winters" traverses plenty of slower, more swelling mini-buildups and has a couple really warm minor-key moments that again hint at something really good to come from this band.

This is a really short taste that certainly whets the palette well for whatever's next from Young Generals.
