Thrice launches "Vheissu" trailer

Continuing one of the more intensive internet campaigns in support of their new album Vheissu, Thrice has launched a "trailer" for the record. The one minute Quicktime trailer can be found in three sizes, with the largest coming in at 35mb. You can check them out here: Small, Medium and Large.

The band also recently posted the fourth of their ongoing Podcast series which includes clips from tracks 10-11 and discussion from the band. Previous marketing efforts have included a digitally locked media file, registration required song samples and the aforementioned podcasts.

All this is in support of the album, their sophomore release for Island and follow up to The Artist in the Ambulance as well as their recent DVD+CD release If We Could Only See Us Now.

It is due out October 18th and the band has enlisted Underoath, The Bled and Veda for the support tour that will visit the US and Canada.

I'm really dreading this album. I understand how bands modify their sound as they get older but I predict a huge letdown on this album. I agree though, the Thrice posts are getting to be a little too many.

Oh no! I mean I dig JC, but there's preachy and then too preachy. Sounds like Thrice is doing the opposite of what Slick shoes did. I'm just getting leary of all my favorite bands releasing new material. Strung Out is the only band I know that releases something that will always blow me away.

yeah. i mean the lyrics have gone pretty downhill from the "illusion" days. it's a great cd but it's one that i can't see myself singing along with just cause it's telling me i'm a bad person for not being down with god and all that.

I just seen Thrice at the Irvine Events Center and they were fucken horrible. They should practice and get a new sound guy before they go on tour. Sad to see Underoath blow them away.

No, it can't be possible. Thrice have a small degree of musical talent while Underoath have absolutely nothing. The simple laws of physics mean that there is no conceivable way that Underoath could ever possibly be even slightly better Thrice. I'm not even much of a Thrice fan - this post is just to illustrate that a goofy kid in a tight t-shirt moronically wailing lyrics that should have been saved for his journal over generic and boring background music made by more goofy kids in tight t-shirts can never, ever be good music.

Marketing makes me feel ill. I hope all of you people who actually go out and look at this stuff feel like the disease ridden consumer prostitutes you are. I'm on the fence about whether this will be good or not. I'm pretty sure its gonna suck, but I'm still holding onto some hope simply because I used to like Thrice so much. At least I can depend on The Constantines!

Atlantic, For Miles, Hold Fast Hope, and Music Box are really good songs, rarely do I like it when bands try a new direction, but this sounds good. It's a much more atmospheric album, a lot less rock than their previous efforts, but still a very cohesive album. Doesn't make my top 5 of the year, but it's certainly not the failure that everyone seems to make it out to be. The hype for it is really annoying, though. Just give us a couple of MP3s on a myspace page and leave it at that.
