Rolling Stone is reporting that The Offspring are planning to release a greatest hits record early next year. The release will include new material as well, although frontman Dexter Holland expressed reluctance at including it "I've gone back and forth about it and just decided that, unfortunately, the way the world works now, if you really want to get people to hear about a greatest hits record, you need that new song."

The magazine is reporting that they band recorded the new material with producer Jerry Finn earlier this summer. They've also been reworking Ignition track "Dirty Magic" and are attempting a Police cover (no word on which one, other than it's not "Roxanne"). In the interview Holland said the band would like to join the 2005 Warped Tour roster ("We've never done it, and I think it would be fun") and that they're planning a new full length for next year.
