There are few labels I'd transcribe three pages of handwritten notes for, but Swami's one of them. Here's what's cooking from John Reis and company:

  • The Demolition Doll Rods have been in San Diego for the last couple of weeks recording with Gar Wood at Strange Sounds studio. The label describes their new stuff as having a "massive scope of musical reference distilled through an energized, passionate heart." Look for an August release.
  • At a recent Spits show in San Diego the label "cornered the brothers Wood about their contractual obligation to Swami" and the band is said to be working on a new record for the label (but they add, "don't hold your breath").
  • Hot Snakes are headed to Europe in May with Dan Sartain. Dates are expected soon.
  • Upcoming releases nearing completion include the Penetrators' Basement Anthology. The record will be the label's first enhanced CD and will include photos, videos and more "to go along with their caveman stomping punk rock and roll." The CD version of Hot Snakes Peel Session EP (the original 7" has become quite the hot commodity) will be available soon as well.
  • Beehive & The Barracudas and the Heartaches are both putting the finishing touches on their new records. Swami describes the Heartaches as playing "timeless punk rock & roll music in the vein of the Real Kids and the Victims along with 60's sounds and 80's hardcore drumming." The just found out about a Belgian band with the same name however, so no word on what effect that may have on them.
  • Finally, Crime is getting set to play live again. The only confirmed show right now is part of a punk rock festival in Rome on April 30th and May 1st. They're playing along side the Kids and Big Balls And The Great White Idiot among others. Check the label's website for details.
