The fine folks at Go-Kart Records have sent us this request for help for a friend:

[George Tabb] moved to Florida as a teen where he went on to start one of Florida's first hardcore bands, Roach Motel, who later toured with Black Flag and the Dead Kennedys. After quitting college, Tabb moved to New York where he continued to play in punk bands, such as The Gynecologists, Iron Prostate and Furious George.

He was in the direct vicinity of the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks in New York City. Since then his health has deteriorated and he needs help. His health problems have been the subject of a People Magazine profile and FOX news piece.

To aid Tabb, Go-Kart and friends are putting several items on Ebay, some of which are ending soon: an autographed drum head from Danny Carey of Tool, some rare vinyl test pressings, an autographed Buzzcocks CD Modern, and a rare Japanese version of GBH's album Ha Ha. You can see the full list of items here, on Ebay. The money raised from the sales of those will go directly to George and the label will be adding more auction items in the next week or so.

Tabb has also been a contributor to seminal punk 'zine Maximum Rock N' Roll and the NY Press for over a decade. More information can be found at the Help George Tabb Myspace page, including details on how to donate directly to George via check or Paypal. For more general info about George, go to his eponymous website.

Hello people!

Since the early days of Go-kart, one of our biggest friends and supporters has been George Tabb.

George Tabb grew up as one of the few Jews in Greenwich, CT, which became the subject of this first memoir, Playing Right Field: A Jew Grows in Greenwich.

He moved to Florida as a teen where he went on to start one of Florida's first hardcore bands, Roach Motel, who later toured with Black Flag and the Dead Kennedys. After quitting college, Tabb moved to New York where he continued to play in punk bands, such as The Gynecologists, Iron Prostate and Furious George.

George Tabb has written for Maximum Rock N' Roll for 15 years and NY Press for more than a decade.

George has always been willing to donate his time, money and energies to various causes - and now he needs our help.

He was in the direct vicinity of the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks in New York City. Since then his health has deteriorated and he needs help. His health problems have been the subject of a People Magazine profile and FOX news piece.
