The Menzingers: Episode 2

Philadelphia's The Menzingers are currently working on their new EP titled Hold On Dodge. The release will mark the first material for their new home, Red Scare Industries.

The band's last release was A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology back in 2007.

Each member of the band will be submitting a studio journal to Punknews, and today we bring you the second episode from guitarist/vocalist Greg Barnett.

Today is day 2 in the studio here in Union City, NJ. The studio is in an old warehouse where they worked on the Manhattan project, way back when. Remember that war? Me neither. So everyone says this place is haunted but I've yet to encounter any ghosts. I'm hoping for some zombie radiation babies…
Yesterday we tracked drums and today we did guitars, vocals, and bass for two of the four songs. Everything is coming along a lot faster and better than we anticipated. I'm really digging the guitar tones this time around. I think the last record they were too distorted.

So I decided to take a walk with Joe to the "bodega" tonight for some 40's when I asked the question "what the fuck is a bodega?" Well, to knowledge some fucks a bodega is a place where you can buy cigarettes, milk, soda, and other grocery items. In Scranton we call them convienents. In Philly we call them corner stores. In Hamlin we call them mini-marts. I guess in New Jersey and New York they're bodegas. So anyways, Joe and I walked to this bodega joint and enter to find a crazy fucking party. Now picture your average corner store, but with 25 drunks inside just wildin' out. In all seriousness, this place was at a party level 12 (out of 10). It ruled. I was in there for no more then 30 seconds until some drunk guy spilt his Heineken all over my shoes. The owner didn't seem to mind, and me and my shoes could care less. I laughed it off with the dude while Joe bought some beer, then we left.

So I just realized I accidentally deleted Joe's Super Mario profile. Hes in the other room right now rapping about how great the 90's were, but when he realizes that all his hard work is gone, he's gonna flip. Who cares. I've still got Yoshi and we're tearin' this land a new ass. Bowser's in for a rude awakening. So tomorrow we start on the final two tracks. We decided last minute to swap a song for an older one we've been kicking around for a while. I think it was a good decision. We'll see how it turns out. Tom and I still have to write some vocals for the outro, but that can wait. I've got a princess to save. Damn, we really are the worst band at being a band.
