Hamilton, Ontario's Arkells have been awared the 2009 Galaxie Rising Stars Award. Presented by the CBC and Canadian Music Week. The band has been heavily touring since the release of their 2008 full length Jackson Square on Dine Alone Records. The connections that the band has made with fans on the road was cited as a major reason for their win.
