Alexisonfire announced via their Twitter account that they are in the process of writing new music, stating "Wrote some new songs today. This shit's so heavy it's going to make Dogs Blood look like a ska record!!!"

The band released Old Crows / Young Cardinals in 2009 and the the Dog's Blood EP in late 2010.
