With his debut EP due out June 12, 2012, Matt Toka continues to post attention seeking YouTube clips, this one featuring a cover of Katy Perry's "Wide Awake." The cover is the latest in a series of punk and acoustic tracks including original music, Beastie Boys covers, Coldplay covers, Adele covers and more. The heavy presence on YouTube led to Warner chairman and Green Day producer Rob Cavallo taking a direct interest in the singer.

Toka has also been confirmed for the entirety of the Warped Tour. He explained the choice of song:

When I first heard this song it reminded me of when I was stuck in my hometown, weighed down by my family bullshit, and numbing myself to deal with it all. When my mom and grandfather went to prison I was so depressed I was ready to quit music altogether. My fans really helped me get through some tough times and without their support I wouldn't be able to continue living out a dream.
