AFI

Hey, in a couple hours you should come back and ask Laura Stevenson some stuff.

But first, read new reviews! Like Bryce Lancer's take on the new AFI album, Burials:

As AFI have traveled further and further away from their east bay hardcore roots over the past decade-plus, they've also reinvented themselves on nearly every album … Burials doesn't really sound like any of its predecessors; it's the most layered, atmospheric album AFI have written in their career, and also one of the most interesting.

Also new today is Renaldo Matadeen's in-depth look at the sophomore effort from Sainthood Reps, Headswell:

Continuing through Headswell, "Fall" is an excellent slab of '90s-influence heavy alternative, as Sainthood Reps mix soft finishes with more hammering guitars at intervals. They swing from punishing and blistering to calmer and swooned periods before Montesanto cracks his voice with the relentless and blistering instruments backing him up once more.
