Pitchfork Media is reporting that the rumors of Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green leaving the band are true. Green plans to continue to play in The Vells, a new band features members of Red Stars Theory, Stagger Lee, and The Blessed Light with whom he's been drumming.

Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock spoke with Pitchfork on Friday and assured the site that he and bassist Eric Judy would continue the band. Temporarily filling in for live shows and some recordings will be Benjamin Wiekel of The Helios Sequence. The band has been working on a new record for a while but recently scrapped the material due to various problems. They have since written 16 new songs and plan to enter Oxford, Mississippi's Sweet Tea Studios next week to begin recording with Dennis Herring. The upcoming album is due in early September on Epic Records, although Brock expressed some label uncertainty to Pitchfork. Speaking of that website, check the full scoop here.
