The Replacements have broken up. Again. Singer/guitarist Paul Westerberg told fans at their June 5 show at Primavera Porto that evening's show would be the band's last, and proceeded to smash his guitar. Telling the crowd that he and his bandmates chose to stay in their hotel rather than soundcheck for the performance, Westerberg described the group as "lazy bastards to the end."
Recently, Westerberg had taken to wearing a series of tshirts at the band's shows, eventually spelling out the message "I have always loved you. Now I must whore my past" one letter at a time.
