Beastie Boys DJ and touring member, Mix Master Mike will open for Metallica on their upcoming North American tour. According to a press release, he will be spinning hard rock and heavy metal tracks between each set. Other bands with opening slots on the tour include Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, and Gojira. Mix Master Mike has opened rock shows before, including the 2002 Guns 'N' Roses tour. He was the Beastie Boys' DJ from 1998's Hello Nasty until the group's disbandment, following the death of Adam Yauch.
