Winnipeg's R U S T O W L is gearing up to release their self-titled debut EP at the end of the month. The band features former members of the post-punk act 1971, who called it quits after the death of their founding bassist Cameron Glen Cranston last year. This new band features 1971 guitarist Garrett Iverson and drummer Jory Strachan along with bassist Robert Reimer and organist/fiddle player Jensen Fridfinnson. The quartet blurs the lines between punk and Americana, creating a sound that fans of the Weakerthans and Attack In Black should take note of. Two songs were recently premiered from the record, the rollicking "Hibernation" last week at The Manitoban and the slow burning "Awkward Age" today at Some Party.

R U S T O W L's EP is due on March 23 via the Transistor 66 Record Company with a limited cassette run from Birthday Tapes. The band will play a release show that same day at Winnipeg's X-Cues Cafe with Housepanther.
