by

Today, the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is opening its Lou Reed archive. The archive includes Reeds personal effects and other items related to his life and career, including audio and video recordings, writing, photographs, and more. The library worked close with Reed's wife, Laurie Anderson, to curate the archive. Meanwhile, if you sign up quick, you can get a Lou Reed library card. 6,000 cards are being issued and they feature a 1972 picture of Reed as taken by Mick Rock, as shown on the cover of Transformer and Blue Mask.
