Vancouver's the Evaporators are the songwriting vehicle of infamous Canadian music personality and celebrity interviewer Nardwuar the Human Serviette. The band has become somewhat of a western Canadian supergroup, featuring John Collins of the New Pornographers, David Carswell of the Smugglers and longtime drummer Scott Livingstone. The band has at times employed Cub's Lisa Marr. The Evaporators play a humorous brand of garage punk, heavily steeped in subject matter from Canadian history, send ups to long forgotten Canadian underground rock acts, and seemingly any absurdist whim of Nardwuar. For moments when the band steps outside even its own bounds, they've been known to perform and record as Thee Dublins, Thee Skablins or Thee Goblins.

Nardwuar's celebrity interviews often appear among the songs on Evaporators releeases. He's spoke with figures as diverse as Canadian prime minister Jean Chr├ętien, Alice Cooper, US vice president Dan Quayle, Snoop Doggy Dog and even Mikhail Gorbachev. On the Evaporators' I'm Going to France 7" single he asks the Soviet leader "I was wondering... of all the political figures that Mr. Gorbachev has encountered... who has the biggest pants–"
