(Source: Punknews.org)Following the 1996 release of their sophomore full length, Less Talk More Rock, the band entered a transition period. They decided that "rural metal-heads" Chris and Jord had diverging musical goals than "urbane poet" John, and Samson left the group to form the Weakerthans. He was succeeded by Todd Kowalski, formerly of thrash acts I Spy and Swallowing Shit. At the same time Propagandhi formed Winnipeg-based Parecon-organized label G7 Welcoming Committee Records, which has since put co-released all of the band's records and released music from similarly aligned acts (the Weakerthans included). Propagandhi's music has since turned away from the pop-punk of their earlier work to a decidedly more serious and complex hybrid of punk, metal and thrash. The band's sarcastic wit remains in tact.
