Punk is an idea, not a singular sound or style. It is present in all forms of art and culture and can not be easily described or defined. The idea is always growing, evolving. Punk is the front line of every new generation's artistic revolution. Punk Music is the soundtrack to this revolution; as complex and eclectic as the individuals who make it. This is why "Punk" is used to describe thousands of bands who sound nothing alike, across generations. The people who sit around talking about "The Greatest Punk Band of All Time" have no idea what Punk Music is about, what it sounds like today. They know nothing about what the word means outside of the rigid definition it has been given by rock n' roll historians and clothing stores. If Punk Music is at all empowering or inspiring to you, do not listen to these people. They are delusional romantic fools who seek to silence those do not fit their interpretation of rebellious and free, even if they themselves do not realize it. They fear progress and (r)evolution because they are afraid of becoming obsolete. "They say that the classics never go out of style, but they do. They do. Somehow baby, I never thought that we do too."
