Offspring frontman Dexter Holland has launched an auction to raise money for The Innocence Project, a non-profit organization which aims to help exonerate the wrongfully convicted through postconviction DNA testing; and develop and implement reforms to prevent wrongful convictions.

Holland is auctioning off an autographed pair of Asics Saucony Hurricane 8 GT-2100 size 11 1/2 used running shoes signed and dated. The auction explains:

Dexter rocked these sneakers while running the LA Marathon March 19, 2006. He completed the marathon in 5 hours, 1 minute and 7 seconds. That was good enough to finish 7900th!

As of this evening, the auction is up to $202.50 and you can place a bid for this item here.

The band continues to work on the upcoming full length follow up to Splinter and is planning to spend much of the summer writing. Drummer Atom Willard has also been busy over the past few months working with former Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge and his Angels and Airwaves project.
