Through a partnership with newly launched media website gimmesound.com, Magic Bullet Records has posted much of their catalogue for free, no-strings-attached download. The label explains:

"Evolve or die! Rather than try to fight, sue, or waste incessant time bad-mouthing the music-acquiring habits of people who "illegally" download full albums created by the glut of "hard-working" 20-somethings piling into vans and smoking the reefer in every city, forward-thinking individuals have been spending the last few years acknowledging the behavior and figuring out how to adapt accordingly. "

"I have already uploaded over 20 full albums for immediate no-cost download (including some of the newest releases!), with another 80 or so that will be steadily available for download in the coming weeks and months. Please see the list/links below and feel free download every last song and album your heart desires."

The business model of gimmesound.com is an interesting one; bands are compensated by the advertising revenue generated by the site, and the website also donates 2% of their net revenue to a charitable cause of the downloader's choice.

Magic Bullet releases up for free download thus far include albums from Boy Sets Fire, Austin Lucas, This Will Destroy You, Frodus and many others. Check them out here.
