The Menzingers

To celebrate the New Year, Scranton, PA's The Menzingers are taking time to record the second full length (the follow up to 2009's critically acclaimed Hold on Dodge [7 inch] and 2007's A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology). The boys have been kind enough to keep us abridged of the situation with some studio updates, the first of which is by drummer Joe Godino. In it Joe goes over the excitement of recording, their plans for the next few weeks and perhaps shares a little more than he should with the reading audience.

So, we planned this trip to France for Christmas, when we arrived we realized Kevin was missing. We grabbed the next flight we could back to the States and landed in Scranton where we hitched a ride with a polka band back to Chicago. Kevin is safe and sound.

So, here we are at Atlas Studios with Matt Allison and Justin Yates where we're recording our next full length Chamberlain Waits. We'll be here until the 12th [of January], then we leave for a short 5 day tour with Anti-Flag then come back to Chicago for about a week to finish the record.

We arrived here on Sunday night, loaded our gear into the studio, then went to the Gingerman Tavern for some drinks with the Chicago crew. Good times. I started tracking on Monday and got about 7 tracks done and finished the remaining 4 the next day. I am super excited to record to analog for drums this time around, I have never done that before, its always been straight digital and can end up sounding kind of machine-like. The drums for this record will have a much more natural sound and I am pummmped. We've been splitting 30 racks of PBR between the 4 of us and Justin and going on chatroulette every night. If you never heard of it, it’s a chatting website where you are randomly connected through webcam with people from all over the world. We talked to some Swedish kids who never heard of Millencolin and every 5 people or so there is a crappy old guy showing their penises. When that happens we just frantically do Guido fist pumps and they disconnect us pretty quick. Check it out. Hopefully between all of this we actually get some work done.

So yeah, everything is running super smooth and we are having a great time hanging with all the Chicago folks. Gotta run though, we have to dig our van out of the snow and go steal all The Lawrence Arms gear to track guitars and bass. I'm pretty much done and will have nothing to do for a while besides watch cable and get drunk, so give me a call, 570-878-5226. See ya guys!!
