Pixies; Landscapes; Against Me!

And we are back from the weekend! I got to see Mischief Brew play in a warehouse and then ate some terrible Chinese food. What sweet concerts did you see and what nasty food did you eat? We got some good reviews for you:

First, on his review of EP2 staffer Greg compared the The Pixies to AC/DC and then dissed AC/DC for some bizarre reason. Well, what do you expect from a guy with a mustache:

To me, other than the cleaner, thicker production (again from Gil Norton), the "Blue Eyed Hexe" sounds "classic Pixies." And, in their defense, the verses are in 7/4 and AC/DC never wrote a goddamn song outside of 4/4 in their lives.

Next, staffer Renaldo hit the weight bench and then wrote about the new record by Landscapes called Life Gone Wrong:

There's a provenance of freshness that most hardcore bands nowadays struggle to find or acclimatize themselves. Landscapes tinkers with the right tools but just lose sight of the prize.

Finally, long time reader Mister Spike handed in the first report of Against Me! live since the new album dropped after he saw them down in Fort Lauderdale. Also, there was a Rage Against the Machine cover…?:

It was then that it was clear. For all the changes that the band may have gone through in the past few years, the music and the visceral feelings that come with it have remained largely the same.
