Media: Against Me! videos: new "Making Of", new remix and new song planned

Terrified of a day with Against Me! news? Thankfully we have your salve. The band has posted the 3rd installment of their "Making Of New Wave" video which will be featured on the included DVD of the upcoming record. You can see the first two here and here and the new one below. You can also see a video for the Butch Vig dance remix of "White People for Peace" at the Against Me.net Video player.

The band is also working with Martha Colburn to make a video for the song "Stop!" The band's asking fans with photos of the band to email Martha via info[a]marthacolburn.com.

Additionally, you also have the chance to win a guitar from the boys here at the Org. Just in case you've missed the news lately, there's been a video, the making of said video, limited 7" preorder, a tour with some friends, a limited, tour-only release, and a dance remix.

Oh, and New Wave is due out July 10, 2007.

Myspace secret show coming up and averyone knows it. I assume the whole record will be posted on their space page starting next week sometime. Record is pretty good, i like Borne on the FM Airwaves, Ocean, and Thrash Unreal.

Thrash Unreal is an amazing song. Their best since Disco. Up the Cuts and Borne on the FM Waves are both classics as well. A couple of other decent songs and the rest is forgettable.

Truth. Only, I haven't gotten the leak, nor do I plan to. I just heard "White People for Peace" and one more song. Both were very catchy. Seems we've forgotten the value of a good, catchy song.

I know I'm probably in the vast minority here, but I like every song except Borne. I also think Stop sounds just like a 70s disco song. But thats okay.

I was cruising the Interpunk and I noticed their top sales.
Right now it's Goggol Bordello, followed by the CD/DVD of New Wave. While it is only interpunk I think it's really impressive that the Presales of the CD/DVD combo have outsold all the other records recently.

Stop is clearly the worst song on the album. The chorus makes me puke a little inside my mouth every time I hear it.

The rest of the album is pretty good, but it's clear now that pretty much all traces of the "folk-punk" sound are gone. Against Me! is just another rock band now. Not such a terrible crime as most of the "punx" make it out to be, but I must admit it's a bit saddening...

More then half of the songs on this record could be hit singles, they didn't need to add one...honestly I think Thrash Unreal has way more hit potential then Stop.

Now i can't really comment on the actual forthcoming cd as i have not heard it yet (and don't plan on listening to it until the cd drops), but I’ve read these types of comments before, and i guess the guys in the band got tired of making the same type of album and wanted to make something new. Furthermore just because the new album doesn't have the "fold-punk" sound, doesn't mean that all future Against Me! albums also wont have it. And from the tracks that I have heard that are on New Wave, they sound great, so I’m not too worried about the apparent absence of “folk=punk”

It's not so much the fact they've changed styles a bit that bothers me, I actually really dig a few of the new songs. It just seems like the direction they're choosing to take is becoming increasingly more bland. I suppose that's to be expected though.

That being said, if this is gets any amount of mainstream exposure and success (apart from "stop!" which I think blows ass) it can do nothing but good. They said it best on Clarity, even at their worst they're still better than most.

let it be known if you dont want to pre order from smartpunk or interpunk or whatever, No Idea Distro is offering preorders with the 7' also. I just hate those lame punk stores, so I thought you kids might want to know that.

I agree on that. I know interpunk is probably alright for kids who are just getting into the scene or don't know a hell of a lot better but I'll take No Idea, or direct from record labels webstores any day of the week.
I'll admit, Interpunk has a lot of conveniences but I'll take an extra $4 savings over getting my order three days sooner. The only time I use interpunk is for bundles of purchases where the labels don't have stores (Hellcat, I believe) or it's not on a good distro (Cobra Skulls EP).

I've tried to order Sloppy Seconds First Seven Inches and Then Some like three times recently and every time I would get an email saying sorry it is out of stock. Luckily I checked Interpunk the other day and ordered it from there and so far no email saying they don't have it. So in that instance Interpunk helped me out.

New album is exactly like all their other albums. A few amazing songs, some pretty good songs, and some really horrible songs. Once again, this band fails to make a solid album, and The Disco Before the Breakdown is still their best record.

New Wave is a solid effort. Axl Rose is their best Album. Disco was a good "THREE TRACK FUCKING EP" - but don't call it their best release. You just sound like you're trying too hard.

AM is a band that makes records. Judging this record song by song instead of as a cohesive unit is a bit unfair. Its a good record. The songs are good, but more importantly it's well paced, balanced, and the songs make sense in context with one another. It is a bit front heavy, but The Ocean is a killer ending track.

why stop? it is easily the worst song on the album second to piss and vinegar which at least has a good chorus. but both of those songs have really bad lyrics. the rest of the album is pretty good though. im really diggin ocean and thrash and the recorded version of americans abroad sounds real nice.

Are you stupid or are you trying to fake it for the sake of pretention? Stop is probably the most catchy, radio-friendly song on the whole album. Shit sounds like it was on a Franz Ferdinand album. So of course they are going to toss it to radio.
