Jack White (White Stripes) joins Alison Mosshart (Kills, Discount) in new project

Jack White of White Stripes and The Raconteurs has formed a new band with Alison Mosshart of The Kills and Discount. According to the Billboard report, the group also features Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence and Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita.

The band is called The Dead Weather and they will be releasing their debut this year. The record is titled Horehound and is due out June 9, 2009. You can preview two songs on their official website including "Hang You From The Heavens" and a cover of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?"
